Notes from the Trustees
D. Wise, C. Spees, H. Zapp, G. Rockey, D. Robinson
You may have noticed some different things going on here at
Lima Aerie 370. We all have seen the decline in the nation’s
economy and it has hit the Lima area especially hard. Our
policies have had to reflect the downturn in the economy,
and the worst thing to ever happen to our Clubs was when the
gambling was made “legal.”
Price-wise, we are still well below that of retail
establishments, but no longer can we afford to give away the
things we used to take for granted. The good news is that as
a Club, we are strong and viable, business wise. Our
drawings are doing well for the members, and the newest
drawing, “Queen of Hearts,” is starting to gain steam as the
next big drawing here. Starting in January, we are going to
bring in bands that more reflect the changing age
demographic of our membership. Less quantity, better
quality. Better musicians and going to some newer music to
compliment the older music currently being played most
often.
The value of your Club is what you
put into it. Unfortunately, in our position, we can only
think of the membership as a whole, not as individuals. Our
part is simple. Operate the Club as the business it is and
as a business we have to pay our overhead, suppliers, and
make a profit for you, the members. It is up to our members
to support the Club, and come to events that are planned and
advertised. Come in and volunteer if you have the time. What
you get out of it far outweighs what you will put into it.
See your President, Rob Charles, or one of your Managers,
Ron Morris or Diann Seech, or one of the five trustees to
volunteer for one of Club’s functions.
The Board would like to
salute the man who runs the Children’s Christmas party, Ed
Downing. Ed is 90-plus years of age, yet loves children so
much he has volunteered to chair this party for quite a
number of years. We have honored him in this position. For
those who patronize and volunteer here, thank you very much!
For those who haven’t yet, come on in! We’re glad to see
you!
